On Monday 7 October 2019, the Pontifical University of Sant’Anselmo hosted its annual inauguration ceremony of the 2019-2020 academic year, at the Basilica of Sant’Anselmo. The event was open to the public, with professors and incoming students attending.
The ceremony began with the praying of the solemn vespers of the Holy Spirit, presided over by the Grand Chancellor, Most Reverend Abbot Primate, Gregory J. Polan O.S.B.
Following vespers, the Schola Cantorum performed Hymnus canti Anselmi, to introduce Pro-Rector, Prof. Philippe Nouzille O.S.B., who delivered the opening address.
A vocal quartet directed by Petr Sorokin performed two pieces.
To conclude the evening, Dr. Marinella Perroni, Prof. Emeritus of the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University of Sant’Anselmo, delivered the academic lecture, titled, “For a dialogue on the Gender issue in education”: the contribution of Biblical exegesis.
Academic courses at Sant’Anselmo officially commenced on Tuesday 8 October.
