Requirements for the Licentiate Degree
Program Description: second cycle, 2 years
According to the rules of the Bologna Process, new students for the Licentiate degree must obtain a total number of 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits. Obligatory courses, elective courses and two seminars must cover at least 90 ECTS. The Licentiate thesis and the comprehensive exam are worth 30 ECTS. In addition, the student must demonstrate the ability to read and understand two modern languages (English, French, German, Spanish) through a verification test. Beyond the program’s coursework, to reach the number of credits (ECTS) necessary, the student may attend more courses or produce a written paper for a course of 3 ECTS that would give a value of 5 ECTS to the course. In this way, the value of a second course of 3 ECTS also may be increased.
The Licentiate grade is calculated as 30% of the average exam grade, 30% on the written work, 10% on the defense of the work during its discussion, and 30% on the comprehensive exam.
