Triennium of Philosophy: Cycle I for the Baccalaureate
The first cycle of philosophy is three years at the end of which the student obtains the degree of Baccalaureate in Philosophy. Since only two years of philosophy are required to start theology studies, our first cycle is organized as a two-year course (with only one active year for each academic year) plus a third year (active every year).
For each semester the Faculty of Theology offers an introductory course to theology. These courses are mandatory for those who wish to continue with theology studies.
Particular importance is given to the study of the Latin and Greek languages necessary to access the sources of the philosophical tradition and for the subsequent studies of specialization of the second and third cycles. Language courses are optional, but it is recommended to follow at least one course every semester.
Remember that before the end of the first cycle of theology the student must achieve a basic formation for both the Latin and the Greek.
The students of the third year follow the courses of the license cycle.
If they have not studied the first two years in the Faculty, the study plan can integrate courses in these first years of the first cycle.
During the third year, the students must reach 50 ECTS between courses and seminars.
At the end of the third year, the student must produce a paper of 25-30 pages (10 ECTS), the subject of which will be previously agreed upon with a professor of the Faculty. This project will be indicated on the appropriate form, which is then signed by the Moderator and filed with the Office of the Segreteria Generale.
Study plan: At the beginning of each semester, students must complete their study plan on the appropriate form, in triplicate, which must be approved by the Dean. A copy remains with the Dean, one with the Segreteria and one with the student. The Dean can accept that among the complementary courses, two at most can be attended at other Faculties.
